Privacy Policy
Effective 28 August 2026. This policy explains what Scout stores, why it is needed, and what happens when you use Scout through the website or Telegram bot.
1. What Scout collects
Scout stores the information needed to operate your career agent: name, email, phone number, current location, master resume text and filename, target roles and locations, remote preference, industries, seniority, match threshold, alert settings, Telegram chat identifier and username, job feedback, plan status, IDs of jobs already shown or notified to you, and limited delivery state needed to prevent duplicate alerts.
When you visit the website, Scout assigns a first-party pseudonymous browser identifier so it can measure aggregate traffic and recent site activity. The hosting network may also provide approximate city and country information. Scout does not request GPS permission and does not publish names, email addresses, phone numbers, Telegram IDs, resume data or precise coordinates.
The website may show an anonymized live visitor activity message such as “Someone in Bengaluru, India is checking out Scout.” These messages are based on real recent website activity when coarse location is available. Scout no longer fabricates preview activations or presents simulated signups as real activity.
2. How Scout uses your data
Scout uses your data to link website onboarding to Telegram, enforce your search criteria, rank job opportunities, avoid repeats, remember explicit preferences and rejections, deliver alerts, manage Free/Pro entitlements and generate career material that you request.
Aggregate visitor counts may be retained internally for product analytics, but they are not presented on the homepage as public user or signup counters.
Scout does not sell personal data and does not build advertising profiles from career data.
3. Resume contact details and AI processing
Your stored master profile may contain your email, phone number, current location, LinkedIn profile and portfolio because those details belong in the ATS resume Scout produces for you. Scout does not permanently remove those details from your resume.
When an AI action needs resume context, Scout creates a separate processing copy and removes obvious email addresses, phone numbers and URLs before sending that copy to Google Gemini. The original contact details remain stored in Scout and are restored by Scout's PDF renderer into the final ATS resume. Your target job description may also be sent to Gemini.
Current Gemini free-tier notice: Google states that content submitted through the Gemini Developer API free tier may be used to improve Google products. Scout therefore minimizes the resume content sent to Gemini and redacts obvious contact details first. Before a broader production launch, Scout should be moved to a paid Gemini tier where Google states submitted content is not used to improve its products.
Most job ingestion, hard filtering, deduplication and first-pass ranking does not require an LLM. AI is used selectively for natural-language preference changes, career-agent responses and requested resume tailoring.
4. Telegram
When you use @Scoutmeout_bot, Telegram provides information needed to deliver the service, including your Telegram chat identifier, username if available, messages, button interactions, payment events and files you explicitly upload. Telegram processes data under its own terms and privacy policy.
5. Storage and retention
Production Scout profiles are stored in persistent Redis storage connected to the application deployment. Alert delivery state and job-discovery cache data are also stored there so Scout can avoid duplicate notifications and safely retry failed deliveries. Temporary handoff records and cached job lists have expiration periods. Your profile and master resume remain stored while your Scout account exists unless you delete them.
Website visitor identifiers are pseudonymous random values. Recent online activity uses short-lived buckets and coarse visitor events; neither is intended to identify a person.
6. Your controls
You can change search preferences, replace your master resume, change alerts, or choose Delete my data in Telegram Settings. Deletion removes the Scout profile, stored resume text, preferences, feedback and cached match data associated with that Telegram account.
The website also provides a Start over on web / Reset web setup control. That clears the browser's saved onboarding handoff so you can run website setup again; it does not by itself delete a Telegram-linked Scout account.
7. Job sources
Scout retrieves public job listings from supported ATS/job-board sources and approved feeds. Scout sends users to the canonical job or application URL. Your resume is not sent to job sources merely to perform matching.
8. Service providers and security
Scout uses Vercel for application hosting, Redis/Upstash-compatible storage for persistence, Upstash QStash for scheduled agent heartbeats and delivery retries, Telegram for the bot and Stars payments, and Google Gemini for selected AI actions. Service credentials are kept server-side and are not intended to be committed to source control. Scout uses a secret-authenticated Telegram webhook and short-lived/bound website-to-Telegram handoffs.
No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Do not send Scout passwords, government IDs, bank details or unrelated sensitive information.
9. Payments
Scout Pro is purchased through Telegram Stars. Scout stores the Telegram payment charge identifier and subscription expiration information needed to grant access, manage renewal and support payment actions. Scout does not receive your card number or app-store payment credentials.
10. Contact and changes
This policy may change as providers or features change. Material changes will be reflected here. For a data request, use Settings → Delete my data in @Scoutmeout_bot.
